About Department


   Economics is considered as an ever green subject due to its high utility and huge demand in the job markets. Economics is a very important discipline both for career as well as job point of view. Well-trained economists are in huge demand not only in India but also across the world for rapidly globalizing economic scenario. They are hired as economic analysts, researchers and consultants. Keeping this view in mind the college has started the Department of Economics under the faculty of Social Science at the inception of the college itself in 1967. The subject is being taught at the graduate level to Arts faculty. Micro Economics, Economy of Maharashtra, Macro Economics, Banking, Indian Economy & Environmental Economics are the major papers being tought. As per the rules and regulations of Government of Maharashtra and the parent university, i.e. SantGadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati one full time post is sanctioned for this department. Upto now two Head of the Department did their works successfully in the college. Prof. Hansraj G. Phatak leaded the department at first and now Dr. Dnyaneshwar V. Gore has been leading the department since November, 2007. More than 80 per cent students of the department belong to the socially, economically and educationally backward rural community.
   Vision of the department of Economics consists of exploring the economic study and analysis, policy framing and implementation issues faced by the Indian economy. The department thrives to provide quality education to the students from poor economically and educationally backward, rural community and also to reach standards of excellence in teaching, research and consultancy.


Objectives:
  1. To develop analytical skills and the accumulation of factual knowledge.
  2. To develop effective decision making skills.
  3. To develop an understanding of Micro and Macroeconomic theory and their application to the economic sub-fields.
  4. To provide quality education to the students from economically and socially backward classes.
  5. To prepare the students for employment in industry, the professions, and government
