DEPARTMENT OF MARATHI

Marathi department is established in the college since the year 1967, i.e. since its inception. Through this department, efforts are made to develop linguistic skills in students and to create interest in literature. Principal Dr. Gajanan Jadhav has been working as head of the department since 1998. He is a great artist along with a great teacher and administrator. Initially, only the Compulsory Marathi subject was taught at the graduate level in the college. Marathi literature subject is introduced in the college since 2009-2010 along with the Compulsory Marathi to let the students learn Marathi Literature and to avail the opportunities of employment.

To make available the facility of Post Graduation to the students in the rural area and the students in the periphery of Deulgaon Raja, M.A. in Marathi is also started from the session 2010-2011.Maximum students could pursue their studies in M.A. in Marathi and most of them have had the jobs in various fields as the proud alumni of the department. The department is always conscious to the constant changes in the field of teaching and learning and is always ready to accept those changes for the betterment of students.

Principal Dr. Gajanan Jadhav is a recognized research supervisor of Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati and under his guidance; six-students have been doing research work of Ph.D. under his guidance. The department is the recognized research center of Ph.D. of Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati. Principal Dr. Gajanan Jadhav had been working as the Chairman of the Board of Studies of Marathi, during 2012 to 2017. A major change has been made in the course of Marathi language and literature introduced to UG and PG courses. Principal Dr. Gajanan Jadhav had been working as a Member of Faculty, Academic Council, Research Recognition Committee and the committees of Affiliations. He participated in various International,National seminars, conferences as a resource personand other literary activities.

Mr. Madhukar Jadhao, an assistant professor in the Department of Marathi, is a former student of this college. He is a poet and has published his writings in newspapers, magazines and Diwali magazines. He has been a part of many literary gatherings and he is invited as a poet in the Poet’s meets. His poems have won the literary awards. He has presented more than 20 research papers in various seminars and conferences.
