At the very beginning of the academic session the department of Marathi forms a Marathi Literary Forum, with active participation of the students of the Marathi Language and Literature. This forum conducts various curricular as well as extra-curricular activities, such as Interviews of Renowned Litterateurs, Essay Writing Competitions, Oratory Competitions, Debate Competitions, Story Telling Competitions, Poetry Reading Competitions, Preparation & Releasing of Wall Magazine, Study Tours, Student Research Projects, Reading Inspiration Day, Participation in various Literary Meets, etc. through the year. Also to improve the active participation of students in the classroom Interactive Sessions were conducted.
The faculty of the department always encourages and guides the students to participate in various competitions as well as various public speaking activities. Due to this, different skills were developed among the students.They can compete with confidence in various competitions organized by the department as well as by other colleges and organizations. The number of students has successfully participated in various District, University as well as State level competitions. In the district-level elocution competition for Cleanliness organized by the Government of Maharashtra Miss. Sunanda Kuhire, a student of B. Sc. has participated in this competition.
Every year on 15th October on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the former president of India Bhararatna Late Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam the 'Reading Inspiration Day' is celebrated by the department. To inculcate different soft skills and to improve the stage courage of the students the Marathi Literary Forum regularly conducts various activities like drama reading, silent reading, poetry reading etc. The activities like drama reading and poetry reading help the student to improve their stage courage and the activity like silent reading is much more helpful for them to improve concentration on studies and deep learning. To improve the writing skills of students, the forum conducts Essay Writing Competition on various current social and cultural issues in the society.
To provide extra knowledge regarding the Marathi Language & Literature the Guest Lectures of eminent persons were organized by the Marathi Literary Forum.Eminent litterateurs such as Hon. Dr A. H. Salunkhe (Well-known writer)Dr. Vijay Shinde, Hon. Dr. Eknath Shinde, (former regional Coordinator Maharashtra Rajya Sahitya v Sanskruti Mandal), Hon. Dr. Keshav Khating (Well-known Poet), well-known artist Shridhar Ambhore, Story narrator Hon. R.D. Deshmukh, well-known poet Hon. Azim Nawaj Rahi, etc. invited to deliver a guest lecture.
Every year Marathi language conservation fortnight is observed from Jan.14 to Jan.28 according to the government guidelines. In this fortnight guest lectures and other activities were organized with the active participation of the students, to inculcate the awareness about Marathi language and to augment the Marathi language among the students and society.
