The Microbiology department at Shri Vyankatesh Arts, Commerce & Science College is actively engaged in providing a rich and diverse learning experience for its students.Microbiology attempts to both answer philosophical question about the nature of the Microbial Life and provide solutions to various problems. It sounds like the Microbiology department is quite active in providing a comprehensive and engaging learning experience for its students. Here's adetailed breakdown of the activities mentioned:
Every year department of microbiology Shri Vyankatesh Arts, Commerce & ScienceCollege, Deulgaon Raja conduct Bridge courses for newly admitted students. This course enables to build confidence among the student by providing the techniques and strategies commonly used in microbiology also by problem solving and provide a fundamental basis for further study in life sciences.
Every year department of microbiology conduct water analysis activity. Department of Microbiology was collected water samples from 5 Villages of Deulgaon Raja Tahsil and analyses the microbial quality of water using MPN test.
Students from Department of Microbiology participates every year in state level microlympiad. In State Level microbiolympiad09 students participated was conducted by Govt.Institute of Science, Aurangabad held on 25th January 2020, out of those 07 students qualified in State Level microbiolympiad2020.In State Level microbiolympiad50 students participated was conducted by R. C. Patel Arts, Commerce and Science College, Shirpurheld on 9th January 2019, out of those 32 students qualified in State Level microbiolympiad 2019.
Department of Microbiology encourages students to participate and complete training resulting into (14) students have completed a “Training Programme on Pathological Tools and Techniques” under singed MOU from 11 Nov.2019 to 17 Nov.2019 at Shraddha Clinical Laboratory, Deulgaon Raja. Their work and improved laboratory skill was found to be satisfactory.
Department of Microbiology organized Immunology Rangoli Competition with collaboration of Microbiologists Society, India for the students. Students can participates actively in these programmes and expand their ability to present a subject related topics through this immunological rangoli competition. Our Microbiology department organized Immunology Rangoli Competition on 22 November 2022 for the enhancement of the student’s knowledge with respect to different rangolis drawn of various structures and biological cycles. As it was a very helpful to study the science through Rangoli which were made on various biological themes given to them.
Department of Microbiology organizedGuest Lecturesfor students every year. Inviting experts to deliver lectures on various topics such as recent trends in microbiology, fermentation technology etc. will broadens students' understanding and exposes them to cutting-edge research areas.
Organizing virtual lectures and webinars, especially on occasions like National and International Science Day, allows students to learn from renowned scientists and researchers from prestigious institutions like IISER.
In a traditional classroom, professor, students and fellow learners are present, similarly, the same set of participants are present in a virtual classroom. Thus, virtual classroom can be visualized as a classroom where a lecture or session is conducted using Internet. To increase and to update the knowledge of subject department organizes virtual lectures of following distinct resource person. Their extensive experience in the field provided insight about the subject of microbiology.Virtual Guest for the program was Dr. Tanzania Yasmin, Dept. of Microbiology, Rajashahi University, Bangladesh This lectures covered the genetic engineering in agriculture field to develop modified Variety of crop on topicGenetically modified Crop.
Seminars: Regular seminars help students delve deeper into topics covered in their syllabus, fostering critical thinking, analytical skills, and the ability to effectively communicate ideas.
The Department of Microbiology organize Group discussion programs every year to aid in developing communication skills, boosting confidence, and encouraging students to tackle challenging concepts and issues in Microbiology.
Hosting quiz competitions not only motivates students but also helps them reinforce their knowledge and prepare for competitive exams like IIT-JAM, TIFR, BARC, SCIR-NET, SET, ICAR, ICMR and M.Sc. entrance tests.
Publishing a wall magazine regularly on topics such as Immunology, bio-gas energy, BIOFUEL energy, Fermentation technology and notable scientists like Robert koch, Antony van leeuvanhook, and Louis Pasteur enhances students' awareness of scientific advancements and achievements.
Offering mini projects to final-year B.Sc. students allows them to explore scientific ideas in various fields such as water analysis andfast food analysis, preparing them for further studies or employment opportunities.
