The subject is being taught at the graduate level to Arts faculty. Micro Economics, Economy of Maharashtra, Macro Economics, Banking, Indian Economy & Environmental Economics are the major papers being tought. Many students have completed their Post-Graduation as well as M. Phil. & Ph. D. in Economics by learning this subject in the college at graduate level. Most of them have got placement on this basis. Department is active in taking various programs for the overall development of the students. The department has arranged interactive sessions, guest lectures to create interest and better understanding among the students. For the overall development of students various competitions as well as curricular & extracurricular activities such as debate competition, elocution competition, survey projects, wall magazines, research paper competition, seminar presentations, study tours, quiz competitions, newspaper article analysis, etc. have been arranged by the department upto now. For getting extra knowledge of current issues on economics, dept. arranges every year guest lectures of eminent persons from various colleges & universities. Recently the department of Economics have arranged a self-financed one day National Conference on “Indian Agriculture: Challenges and Opportunities” on 23rd December, 2017.
An array of employment opportunities is available in economics field. Meritorious candidates can get excellent job opportunities after successfully completing their BA or MA in economics. Economics graduates can get prestigious jobs in the government sectors like Indian Economic Services, Indian Civil Services, Reserve Bank of India, National Sample Survey, Ministry of Economic Affairs, Planning Board, Planning Commission, National Council for Applied Economic Research and National Institute of Public Finance and Policy.
Job opportunities are also waiting in the private sectors, NGOs and International Aid Agencies. The firms like World Bank, Asian Development Bank, IMF, and other Development Banks, Aid agencies, Financial Consultancy firms are hiring the economic graduates for its various positions. One can consume in these organizations as economist, economic advisor, executive, analyst, consultant, researcher, financial analyst, business analyst, economic research analyst and stock market analyst.
