Mathematics is not a science calculating, solving, evaluating, finding, etc. a way to understand the physical world, although it is used to create tools which can be useful for this. We can say that mathematics is the study of logical consequence. The entire body of axioms, logical systems of consequence, and all of the consequences from those axioms, are part of the body of mathematics. When we write proofs, we are doing mathematics. Number theory, group theory, abstract algebra, topology, formal logic and model theory: these are all part of the mathematical body of knowledge.
In an Every year under department of Mathematics teachers conducts several activities such as Students Seminar, Group discussion, Quiz Contest, Guest Lectures, Poster presentation, Online NPTEL Course, Project for final year students, Bridge course, etc. College has a Learning local Chapter of (NPTEL) National Program on Technology Enhanced learning so that the students of Mathematics can enroll for online NPTEL courses.
Department of Mathematics conducts regular seminar for B.Sc. Students on various topics. It helps them to explore topic in more depth, to learn more about your subject and to develop skills of sharing their ideas. To increase and to update the knowledge of subject department organizes Quiz Contest it helps them to explore topics in more depth to learn more about the subject. To develop communication skill and to increase confidence and to accept challenges, department of Mathematics regularly arrange group discussion program.
In India national mathematics day is observed on the December 22 every year. It is celebrated in order to honor the birth anniversary of the famous Mathematician sir Srinivasa Ramanujan. He was the world famous Mathematician who made remarkable contribution in different fields and branches of this subject mathematics. On this occasion department of Mathematics successfully prepared the posters by students on various topics of Mathematical Sciences.
Every year department of Mathematics organized Guest Lecture for B.Sc. Students. In the academic year 2017-18 department was organized Guest lecture on the topic “Real life applications of Mathematics & Statistics” by Prof. T.V. Navghare, school of Mathematical sciences, SRTM University, Nanded.
Department of Mathematics regularly conducts Bridge course for B.Sc. I year students. To know about basic fundamental in Mathematics. Also online NPTEL course is conducted for the students. Due to this students gain more advanced knowledge in Mathematics subject.
